Hillsboro _31 miles southwest of Truth or Consequences in the Black Range_ was a mining boom town more than 100 years ago. Today, Hillsboro has galleries, a muesum, antique shops, restaurants, a bar and lodging. The Hillsboro Apple Festival is held each LaborDay weekend. Kingston _nine miles west of Hillsboro also is a silver mining boom town, founded in 1882. Today, Kingston has a gallery, a bed and breakfast and the county's largest swimming pool. Primitive camping is available.
