Jemez State Monument

Ruins

Jemez State Monument near Jemez Springs, preserves the San Jose de los Jemez Mission and Guisewa Pueblo ruins. Franciscans, directing the converts, built the fortress like mission about 1621. There is a visitor center and museum. Located thirteen miles north on Hwy 4.
