Mesilla is in Dona Ana County, and in the Southwest New Mexico region. You can find Mesilla on the southern city limits of Las Cruces between Las Cruces and the Texas state line along Interstate 10 on the banks of the Rio Grande River near the United States/Mexico border.

Mesilla _"Little Tableland"_ is the most visited historical community in Southern New Mexico. From the Gadsden Purchase, to the Civil War, to the Butterfield Stage Coach Trail, to the trial of Billy the Kid, to being a lively social center in the 1880s. Since its' beginning, around 1848, Mesilla's been a great influence on the economic, cultural, historical, and political life of the Mesilla Valley.
