If you're up for skiing, Pajarito Mountain Ski Area, just eight miles above Los Alamos, is known as one of New Mexico's best downhill challenges. The area has 30 groomed trails for all skill levels, a vertical rise of more than 1,200 feet and an uphill four-lift capacity of about 5,000 skiers per hour. Excellent cross-country skiing is also found in abundance within the Jemez mountain range and foothills, and at Bandelier National Monument.
