San Francisco de Asis Church

One of the Southwest's Most Splendid Spanish Chruches

Built 1710-55, the heavily buttressed structure is 120 feet long. The interior is adorned with art, images of saints, a large Christ figure and a pictorial reredos that probably dates from the church's founding. Henri Ault's painting "The Shadow of the Cross" which in some lighting shows Christ carrying a cross and in other makes the cross invisible, is in the rectory. The church is located 4 miles south on Hwy 68.
