Taos Pueblo

Tallest Pueblo in the Southwest

Two five-story terraced communal dwellings, flat topped adobe houses, barred windows and narrow, winding streets reflect a culture hundreds of years old. This picturesque pueblo is the tallest in the Southwest. Electricty and running water are banned. Men wear blankets around their heads. Events include a fiesta honoring St. Jerome in late September; Corn Dances, June 13 and July 25-26; the Procession of the Virgin, Dec.24; and ceremonial dances, Dec.25.
Guided tours are available.
