The county seat of Sandoval County, New Mexico, is Bernalillo. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 90,253, an increase of 26,934 over the 1990 census.

One of Sandoval's county's great attractions is Coronado State Monument Park.
The Coronado State Monument Park has visitors sights of the ruins of the Pueblo of Kuaua, museum and gallery with kiva paintings. There is a self-guided trail, river walk and overlook of the Rio Grande. Overnight camping available. One mile northwest of Bernalillo on NM 44 off I-25.

Coronado State Monument Park has ruins of an ancient pueblo _Kuaua_ and a museum of priceless murals taken from a kiva on the site of the ruins.  It also has a nature trial along the edge of the Rio Grande. 

In the summer of 2006 the Coronado State Monument hosts demonstrations _Tues, Wed, Thurs of each week_ of the making of an authentic carretta and have planted four cobble gardens based on prehistoric plans.  The Friends of the park also feature monthly activities that include lectures, field trips and workshops.
